Bud had also been a volunteer chairman of the Local Heart Association for 5 years, the Wood County Democrats, Friends of the Rossford Public Library, Rossford Athletic Boosters Club, the Ohio Athletic Directors’ Association, Eagle Point Colony Association Executive Committee, and is also a member of the Rossford High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He has also been a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford.

Bud earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Toledo and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Bowling Green State University. While at the University of Toledo he played football for Doc Spears and was a member of the “Friddle Freshman” basketball team. That team went on to lose to St. John’s in 1942 in the finals of the NIT tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
