James William Shelt, age 86, of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.  He was born on September 13, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Gale and Julia (Herslund) Shelt.  Jim was a 1948 graduate of Macomber High School and proudly served his country in the US Army for three years during the Korean War.  He was employed with Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company as a quality control foreman and retired after 41 years of dedicated service.  Jim enjoyed creating stained glass lamps for family and friends, attending monthly luncheons with the L.O.F. retirees and golfing with friends.  He was a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus.  He was a former Chairman for the parish festivals and a former president of the Rossford Athletic Boosters.  Jim’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia (Wohlmuth) Shelt; sons, James (Kathy) and William (Mary) Shelt; grandchildren, Christy Gauthier and Julia (Joseph) Hagans; great grandchildren, Brandon Bihn, Ethan and Nathan Gauthier and Tony Hagans.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Marcella Ritter and Carol Roberts.

Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church at 10 AM where the family will greet visitors beginning at 9 AM in the church narthex.  Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery in Millbury. The family suggests that contributions be directed to All Saints Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the American Heart Association (donatenow.heart.org).
