Lawrence M. Hoffmann, age 85 of Rossford, Ohio passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.  Larry was born on May 31, 1932 in Toledo to Lawrence E. and Dorothy (Smith) Hoffmann. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School.  Larry proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  In his younger years he worked as a butcher for the family grocery store, Hoffmann’s Food Store on Tracy Rd. in Northwood.  He made his career as a self-employed carpenter. Larry was a devout Catholic and had a great devotion to Our Lady, praying the Rosary daily.  He was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church.  He worked the food bank at All Saints and served meals to those less fortunate at St. Louis Helping Hands.  He was a member of All Saints choir, Rosary Society, Hospitality Committee and Ministry of Care.  He was also an Altar Boy, Eucharistic Minister and made pies for Thursday night BINGO.  Larry also enjoyed fishing, was president of the Oversea’s Irish Club, a member of the NWOSM car club, a member of the Northwood VFW 2984 and loved playing “Santa Claus” for children during the holiday season. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

Surviving is his loving wife, Christine “Tina” (Jankowski-Kusner); children, Mary (Fred) Smith, Rob (Rita) Hoffmann; Deborah (John) Fortney; step children, Mary (John) Sampson, Lori (Brett) Thomas and Amy (Del) Yarnell; special nephew, Edward (Nancy) Platzer; sisters, Rita Hamlet, Margaret Delvecchio and Dorothy (Herman) Heuring.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and his faithful canine companion “Herbie”.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dolly(Sandringham) Hoffmann; sister, Sr. Saint Anne Hoffmann; brothers, Thomas Hoffmann and Charles Hoffmann.

Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10 AM at All Saints Catholic Church where the family will greet visitors in the church narthex beginning at 9 AM. Rev. Anthony Recker will be officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Perrysburg.  Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Louis Helping Hands or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
