Mary Lou Bauer, age 86, of Perrysburg passed away on July 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and two faithful dogs. She was born February 26th, 1931 to Roy and Evelyn (Fox) Melton in Toledo, Ohio. Mary Lou was a graduate of Woodward High School and became a proud UAW retiree, after many decades at Jeep. She married her husband Robert on August 12, 1961 and they spent 34 wonderful years together until his death in 1995. Over the years, she served as secretary, treasurer, vice-president and president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Eerie 2322. Mary Lou’s greatest joy in life was watching her family grow and flourish. They will remember her for her feisty yet sweet nature. Her last 17 years were spent with her loving companion, Thomas McGrew.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Karmanos Cancer Institute and ProMedica Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mary Lou.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Bauer; lifelong friend and first husband, Peter Byrd; infant son, Paul Joseph; her grandson, Gregory DeShetler; and great-grandson, Matthew Byrd.
She is survived by her life companion, Thomas McGrew; daughter, Catherine (Keith) Horn; son, Mike (Pam) Byrd; grandchildren, Steve (Becky) Byrd, Kerri DeShetler, Mary (Chris) Phillips, Laura DeShetler, Emily Byrd, Johnathon (Julie) Paille, Gregory (Nicole) Hill, Heather Davenport, Stephen Davenport; and ten great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Rick DuShane of Cedar Creek Church officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery in Millbury.
