Irene "Ginger" E. (Csengeri) Fuller

December 30, 1930 ~ July 13, 2018 (age 87)

Irene E. “Ginger” Fuller, 87, passed away July 13, 2018, at The Perrysburg Commons after a short illness. Irene was born December 30, 1930 to Michael and Irene (Carcus) Csengeri in Toledo and grew up in Birmingham. She attended St. Stephen School in Birmingham and Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1948.

On April 18, 1953, she married Sam N. Fuller of Birmingham and the couple built a house and settled in Rossford.

For 28 years, Irene worked at I.A.M. in Northwood, OH, as a graphic arts photographer using pre-computer, old-school darkroom technology to design graphics on sugar packets that were then exported around the globe. The first thing her children did when at a restaurant, wherever they were in the world, was to check the sugar packets to see if they were Mom’s. She retired in 1995.

A lifelong student, Irene took classes in yoga, shorthand and stenography, belly dancing, and cake decorating to name a few of her interests. She loved swimming and boating; enjoying the family swimming pool and the family boat during the summer. A skilled sewing technologist, Irene sewed her own clothes and that of her children for many years as well as quilts and home accessory items. After retiring, she sewed and donated walker quilts for nursing homes around the Toledo area.

She also loved knitting and crochet, making hats, scarves, and mittens for her children and, in later years, donating her creations to the less fortunate. After retiring, she joined a senior bowling league, reviving her love of the sport.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her daughter, Nanette; her parents; and grand-daughter-in-law, Lauren.

Survivors include her sons, Patrick (Cheryl) of Wisconsin; Mark of Luckey, OH; Matthew (Candace) of Illinois; Eric of Toledo; and William of Detroit; daughters Jan (Chris) Elwing, of Toledo; Marlene (Billy) Evans, of Whitehouse, OH; and Caroline (Tim) Fritz of Colorado; her sister Karen Csengeri of Toledo; grandson Sam John, of Wisconsin; great-grandson Nikoli; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her sixth son, Matt Leachman.

A funeral mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Rossford, at 11 a.m. on August 25, 2018, with a private burial afterward. Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford will handle the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the local Humane Society organizations, including Wood County, Henry County, and Fulton County. The family would like to thank the staff at Kingston Rehabilitation Facility of Perrysburg, The Perrysburg Commons, and Heartland Hospice, along with Dr. Douglas Federman, and his nursing assistant, Bernice.
