Marlene K. (Burdo) Vascik

Marlene K. (Burdo) Vascik, age 82 of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Kingston of Perrysburg.  She was born on February 26, 1936 in Toledo to Robert Burdo and Kathryn (Davies) Barwiler. Marlene was a 1954 graduate of Perrysburg High School.  On August 6, 1955 she married her soul mate Alois “Leo” Vascik and together they raised five children.  She retired from Owens Corning as an executive assistant.  Marlene enjoyed sewing, antiquing, camping and baking.  She loved watching the Detroit Tigers along with Leo.  Marlene was an excellent seamstress and loved sewing costumes for the kids and would make doll clothes for their antique dolls.  Before a special occasion, like Christmas, Easter or even Halloween, Marlene would have clothes or an awesome Halloween costume made hanging on the pantry door ready for when we woke up in the morning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents, Robert (Margarite) Burdo and Kathryn and (Bill) Barwiler.

Surviving are her children, Julia (Jeff) Swartz, Mark, Leo (Cheryl), John (Shirley) , and Susan (Thomas) Kaiser; sisters, Roberta Pegorch and Patricia Duffy; brothers, John Barwiler and Bill (Karen) Barwiler; sister in-law, Sue Head; grandchildren, Heather, Christina, Magi, Russell, Nicole, Michelle, Bryce, Leo Jr., Tiffany, Sara, Andrew, Casey, Cody, Shannon, Cody and Craig.  Also surviving are 22 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, Ohio 43460 on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 4 – 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Matla officiating.  Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg.  The family would like to give a special thanks to all of Marlene’s caregivers at Kingston in Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  Memorial contributions in Marlene’s memory may be directed to the Cherry Street Mission or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
